How we fund

We take a relational approach to grant making and seek to build longer term funding relationships and partnerships.

How we fund

As well as providing financial support we also want to actively engage with the work and campaigns of our partners and to provide whatever advocacy we can. You can read about the work of the projects that we currently support here.

Our financial support is principally through small to medium size grants over a one to three year period. We want to develop a partnership with those that we support, to advocate for their work and to learn from them. Our typical grant size is between £1000- £25,000 although we do offer a few grants each year that are larger than this.

We are also pleased to offer the use of Pickwell Manor as a residential resource for some of the charities that we support. It has been used for team retreats; strategy weekends; trustee residential time; volunteer training, as well as for the bi-annual social enterprise training course that we host and jointly run.

The Process

We do not take unsolicited applications for grants but rather make invitations to apply for funding.

Our budget for grants for the financial year 2017-2018 is £250,000 and this will rise to £350,000 for 2018 onwards. We have a mixture of small grants of between £1000-£5000, medium grants of between £5000-£25,000 and larger grants over £25,000.

Grants are often given over a three-year period and we will consider grants towards core costs or unrestricted funds where appropriate.
