HOMES FOR UKRAINE

Offer Accommodation

The Pickwell Foundation, in partnership with North Devon Council and Torridge District Council has played a leading role in delivering the Homes for Ukraine scheme across the region. Our work includes triage, casework, mediation, re-matching, language support, and housing assistance — ensuring that individuals and families feel welcomed, supported, and able to rebuild their lives in safety.

Since 2022, we have supported over 450 Ukrainian guests and more than 100 host families across North Devon and Torridge. We hosted early webinars for hosts — locally with our MP and Local Authorities, nationally with Dr Krish Kandiah and The Sanctuary Foundation, and internationally with colleagues in Poland working on the frontline.

Our team has contributed to national policy design on the scheme from its inception to the present, working closely with DLUHC (now the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government – MHCLG). In recognition of this work, our Trustee and Director Susannah Baker MBE was nominated by MHCLG for her outstanding contribution to the scheme, receiving a King’s Honour in 2023

To date, we have facilitated approx 60 re-matches between guests and hosts and supported around 75 families to move into private rented housing, helping them take the next step towards independence.
