Asylum Support
We work alongside people seeking asylum and those recently granted refugee status, offering support that recognises both the trauma of displacement and the challenges of rebuilding life in a new country. Our approach is rooted in trauma-informed practice — understanding that safety, trust, and dignity must come first.
For ten months, our team was based inside a hotel for newly arrived people who were seeking asylum. That experience gave us a deep awareness of the physical and emotional toll of the journeys people undertake, as well as the harsh realities of the system they arrive into. Out of this came a model of community connection: small “family groups”, each named after a local area, where volunteers were paired with residents to offer belonging and practical support. Around shared meals and stories, strangers became neighbours — and a sense of dignity and hope was restored.
We also occasionally can provide access to safe, affordable homes through our social housing company, which supports a range of vulnerable groups — including local people experiencing homelessness, those in stage-two recovery, and individuals granted refugee status — through an innovative and purposeful model of support.
Through our four pillars of wellbeing, learning English (if they don’t already speak it), housing, and employment, we help men, women, and children find stability and confidence. Whether it’s accessing healthcare and community activities, improving language skills, resolving housing challenges after being granted refugee status, or finding volunteering and employment opportunities, we walk alongside people on their journey toward independence and belonging.
The Lost Guide
A short film created in partnership with The Pickwell Foundation, Gaffe Studios, and filmmaker Dan Atkins. The Lost Guide explores humanity’s capacity for compassion and resilience, following people seeking asylum as they find refuge in a rural UK seaside town.
Through intimate storytelling and striking coastal imagery, the film captures the transformative power of community as local people and newcomers meet, share, and rebuild together. It’s a moving portrait of empathy and belonging — showing how open hearts and open minds can bridge divides and create home. Watch the film in full here.
